Rarity’s story and character remains pretty much the same but instead she’s a crystal pony
Before the fall of the crystal empire by king Sombra, some of the crystal ponies were able to escape. These escapees were able to warn Empress Luna on what had happened, and she allowed them to take refuge in canterlot & other parts of equestria. One of these crystal ponies would settle down and marry a unicorn in ponyville. This crystal pony was one of rarity’s grandmothers which makes rarity half crystal pony.
Before all this rarity was from the sun empire but was banished when she got inflicted with the darkness by nightmares creatures from the moon. This turned her into nightmare rarity, and she began to terrorize the rest of equestria. Empress Luna would soon find out and about nightmare rarity and would come to defeat her. Empress Luna felt pity, so she allowed rarity to work as a royal dressmaker at the castle. This is how she would meet the rest of the main six.
Rarity felt connected to the crystal empire when she found out about it, but she wasn’t sure why that was. Then when she finally visited the returned empire with the rest of the main six, she ended finding out she’s half crystal pony when she was looking at old archives. Ever sense then rarity would open up one of her boutiques in the empire and take her time learning about her grandmother's culture. She would end being good friends with cadence And Luna
note: Rarity’s crystal form is inspired by the twinkle eyed ponies from gen 1. Also, her design is reference to her nightmare rarity form from the comics, So Empress Luna and rarity are connected when it comes to having moments of weakness that were taken advantage of by the darkness.
